What Women Really Want for Valentines Day

With Valentine's Day fast approaching, and I don't know about anybody else. But do you find it hard to get the right gift for her/him?

Being a mother of 4. It is hard to find the time to go out and get my partner the perfect gift. What do you by someone that has everything they need? Is it the same old card and candy routine with you too? Getting chocolates, roses, and a card is great don't get me wrong. But it's expected, isn't it? At least that is what I always get. So it's the question that every man/woman needs to know. What do you get your partner for Valentine's Day?

Being a mom getting out and going somewhere where, there are no kids, well that would be a plus. So a date night to dinner and a movie. It's always a winner in my book. I however hate surprises. So making plans and not telling me where we are going or what we are doing. Well would not be fun. I need to know what to wear. I would hate to wear something casual and go to a fancy restaurant. So if you do want to surprise her with a trip to a fancy dinner. At least tell her to dress up. No sweets and jeans please.

THE CARD. If you plan on getting your partner a card. First and foremost. READ the card before you give it to them. I one time got a card from a boyfriend that said WIFE. Um, I am not your wife and when I pointed it out he said "I know but everything else fit." Needless to say I never became his "Wife". So it's always the little things we women notice. Men it IS in the DETAILS! We like to know you understand us. Even though we don't even understand ourselves.

Flowers Most men don't understand that when you give a girl flowers. The type and color of flower has a meaning. Once again it's those small details that men over look. So here is a list of what each color and number mean.

So the next time you buy your sweetie roses remember that there is an underlying message.

Chocolates I love Chocolate. But there is nothing worse than getting a kind that you just don't like. I usually give those to my kids, so it looks like I am sharing. But really I didn't like them. SHH, don't tell anyone. So if you are going to buy your sweets a sweet treat. Make sure you find out her/his favorite kind first. Cause trust me every girl and guy has that one special kind that they love.

Being Romantic Getting that girl/ guy something romantic does take a little bit of effort. You could always write a poem. If you can't write, you can always find one online to copy. But don't say you made it up if you didn't. Always give credit where credit is due. Cause the other person will find out you didn't write it if u didn't. That's the internet for ya. Trust me they will be very disappointed and feel like they were lied to.

Rent a hotel room and have roses spread on the bed in the shape of a heart. It's a scene straight out of a movie. It's never happened to me, but we all can dream. A bottle of wine and spending time together away from the home life would be another nice treat.

Lingerie This is a very tricky thing to buy that woman. First, if you don't know her size. It's really best to stay away from this area. There is nothing worse than getting a gift like that and having to take it back. You don't want her to think that she is fat/ or too skinny. My advice stay clear of this area unless u know all her measurements for sure.

Stuffed Animals/Bears This was nice when we were in high school. But when you become a mom. Well they kinda say " I didn't know what to get u", or "It worked for me when I was a teenager." Neither of those things are practical anymore. This of course is just my opinion. But what do you do with a stuffed animal at 30 yrs old? So when you do buy a gift, you need to ask your self is it something she will use later. Well a bear, I wouldn't use it later. It would go into a pile of stuffed animals that my kids already have enough of.

Jewelry We all love jewelry. You usually can't go wrong here. A plus is find her ring size first. You can usually do this by getting a ring she wears and finding the size guide off the internet. Note what color the tone of the metal is. Again its always nice if you get what you like. I love yellow gold, but cannot stand white or rose. Again its always those little details. No matter how many times I have told my family that I hate silver. I usually always get a silver gift sometime throughout the year. Of course I never wear it so it goes in the pile of thoughtful but unpractical gifts. So don't make the same mistake and pay attention to what she is already wearing. Details, always in those small details.

So, when getting a gift first ask yourself. Would she/he like it? Is it something that you both would enjoy? Does it really show how I feel for this person? Is it something she/he would buy for themselves? If you answer yes to any those questions. You probably found the perfect gift for your sweetie. If your girlfriend/boyfriend or wife/husband cried after receiving your gift you know they loved it! HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
